I bought an RV jack from Avery Tools for $55.00 not long after I purchased my Pitts thinking it may come in handy when it comes times to pull the wheels and tires. I went over to the hangar last night after work to try it out and I was actually surprised at how easy it was to use. I know you could just weld a couple of pieces of pipe together but for $55.00, I figured I would give it a try. I removed the wheel pant, removed the cotter pin in the axel castle, nut which also retains the wheel pant spacer and it inserts right into the hollow axel. It only works on hollow axels, e.g., Whittman, Wolf, RV. I used a worm drive bottle jack from a new Toyota p/u from work. I will use another as a jack stand just inside the wheel pant and caliper plate as a support.
One side note, it comes with instructions to modify the axel nut if you have an RV style axel nut which is solid on the end with an nut plate to mount the wheel pant. If you have this style aluminum nut you have to drill out the center to match the axel opening then attach the enclosed bracket across that hole when you finish,. The bracket is the nut plate to attach the wheel pant. I don't like extra parts so it took me minute to figure this part out. Other than the mystery bracket which I didn't need, it works great and is easy to use.
