    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I'm new to this forum and would like some honest opinions. Can I get the pros and cons from those members who have experience in either airplane powered by a 180 HP/ FP bare bones machine. I am currently flying a light bare bones RV4 with a catto prop and 160 HP and use this airplane for formation airshow work as well as a solo airshow acro demo of what an RV4 can do at our altitude which often exceeds 7500. I will not part with this plane since we have been together for 24 years and also enjoy backcountry flying and camping in Idaho and Montana with the -4. But I want something in addition to the -4 which allows higher G's and push to inverted flight manuevers for which my RV is not equipped.

I have flown the Extra 300, G200 and G202 and I'm dating myself by flying my Taylor Titch back in the early 70's. I rather like the unlimited visibility of the mono planes as well as the fantastic roll rate so I'm biased towards that configuration. My time in bipes is limited to the Acro Duster, Little Toots and a Stearman flight with less than 15 hours collectively. I like light, well harmonized controls that I experienced in the mono wings but would not shy away from a good S1S with similar characteristics.
So now I'm looking and researching the subject and appreciate your input.

Build'em light build'em simple,
I'd rather fly than tinker.
