Ok, I'm confused. I was flying out of Stinson Field in San Antonio yesterday with a friend. While doing our run-up I saw a Pitts on final. Tower called him Pitts XXXX which indicated to me it was a production model. I noted when he passed us that it was a two place. Thinking it might be a friend who recently purchased a Pitts, I wrote down the tail number for future analysis.
When I got home I searched the tail number on the FAA website and the registration was pending (recent sale I suspect). The funny thing was it said it was an S2B with an IO540 engine, but had an experimental certificate with exhibition.
How can that be?
Best regards,
Brad
