Possible Charger nosebowls?

I was randomly trawling through the plans recently, and started to think about nosebowls. This is years down the road, but I realized I wanted to get some advice, so I can keep my eye out for good deals.

The plans call for a nosebowl from a Piper PA-12:

However, I've mostly seen Chargers with this wide sort of gaping nosebowl:

I'm not very fond of this wide style, though, at least from an aesthetic point of view.

So, two questions. First, for my build, is it largely a matter of finding a nosebowl that is wide enough to embrace an O-320 or O-360, or are there other considerations? Second, what's this wide nosebowl from, and why is it such a common choice?
