    Why become a Subscribing Member?

    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Have been learning a lot and have looked at a couple of Aircraft. Having a current and knowledgable mechanic is the best way to go but I would like to get some builders views on the top things they would look for on a pre buy. The usual compression checks and general condition is understood. For example last week I was looking at an S1S as advertised as a factory aircraft, when I looked inside the wing it had routed Ribs? This would indicate Sparcraft wings from want I understand.
