I have had the oil lines off my angle valve for a few weeks as I am replacing them. When it’s time to test run the engine I’m researching pre-oiling. I have read the lycoming service bulliten about pulling the top plugs and cranking the engine to build pressure.
My plan right now is to fill the oil cooler and oil lines to the cooler as best I can and crack open the fitting to the oil pressure sensor to try to purge any air.
Is there any concern with the oil pump losing prime ? I was thinking it’s no different then after a typical oil change and as I add oil to the sump it will just reprime the pump ?
I’ve also seen this technique, where you pump oil into the galleys with a electric pump.
