Ok Gents.. looking for any and all input on this. As I've mentioned before, I was originally planning on 2 pipes exiting the cowl in typical fashion for a 6-banger. However, that changed when I picked up the 6 into 1 system. It created a lot more work for me as I had to re-profile the bottom cowl lines. I'd still really like to incorporate a cowl flap for this big motor, but these pipes drop a LOT lower in the cowling than a simple 3 into 1 per side would do. This creates a bit of an issue with the cross-member that I need to install to hinge the cowl flap to clearance is quite minimal between the cross-member and the pipes, especially on the left side where the heat muff will be. It wouldn't be that great between the pipes and the sheet metal alone, even if the cross-member weren't being installed. I would really hate to blister the paint on the bottom of the cowling.. so the question I pose, is how close is too close, and has anyone ever experienced paint blistering on the cowl because they ran the pipes too close. I tried to capture the best perspective of what I'm up against clearance-wise. By the way, the exhaust "tunnel" on this project has been the suckiest part of the whole build so far...grrrr!
