Howdy Folks!

I wanted to get the opinions of some folks on here who have experience restoring aircraft.

1. How long do folks expect welds on these older frames to hold up?

2. If there are cracks or bad welds, how do folks go about fixing those items?

It just seems like these planes keep getting older and older (don't we all?), but rather than build new ones, people restore old ones. I guess I would have reservations about restoring a 30 year old frame, wring it out with aerobatics, and expecting it to last. I appreciate that it is generally cheaper to restore an aircraft than build new, as well as much less time consuming. I've just always wondered why there aren't more new ones being built.

Thanks in advance for the responses, everyone. I certainly have learned a lot since I've been reading this board.

John
