I know practically nothing about tap and dies...

I purchased the hand grip below. It has a thread on it and I'm not sure what the heck to do to attach it to the stick.

OD on thread is .86.
OD on barrel is .80

I'm thinking this would be able to threaded into a 1" ID tube.

If so...
What size tube (thickness should I purchase)? 1" x .095 or .120 ?
Is there a standard tap for something like this or do I need to figure out the thread count?

What other information would you need to determine what I need to do with it?

Thanks for your help.
