    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Fellow Bi-Plane Folks,

I'm new to the forum but spent quite a bit of time trying to search for my answers before I chimed in.

I've got an S-1S that's in pieces andI'm about to start the rebuilt process. I'm historically a warbird guy and new to bi-planes so please bare with me.

I plan to race at Renowhen it's complete and would like to incorporate some mild race specific modifcations while it's convenient.

Right now I plan to implement the following:

S-1C wings
Spring/Wolf gear
Wolf cowl
Composite prop

Otherwise, I'd like to leave it largely stock. As I progress, I may even stick with the bungee gear and stock cowl if there's not much speed to be gained relative to the effort. If I were gunning for the Gold I might be more determined about mods.

-My questionsare: Is there anything to be gained or lost by leaving the wing tip bows on "C" wings?

- I'm running a 200hp IO360A3B6D which if I understand the rules correctly may not be allowed (except as a fill-in)because it exceeds 180hp, or is it just the 360ci?

- The prop may be my biggest test project to see what will best compliment the powerplant. Any suggestions on where to start?
