You may remember that I happened upon this EAA Biplane in central Texas a few weeks ago. I asked for information about identifying it, since the widow kept calling it an Acrosport. And, what it was worth. I bought the plane and sold the airframe, kept the 160hp engine, and gave the old Hegy prop to the widow as a keep sake. I pulled the jugs and was pleasantly surprised to find 4 each excellent chrome cylinders. I still need to disassemble and inspect the valves but the bores are in great shape. After 17 years though my real concern was the cam followers, and cam. We all know that is the weak area from sitting on a Lycoming. Expecting the worst I was surprised of the condition of these components also. I'll post the photos below. Thought you guys might be interested, as this plane has just been sitting for years with no preservation and, no one turning the prop.
