I am trying to plan ahead for an estimated mid 2011 start for a radial Skybolt. I am finishing up my VANS RV-10 and should be flying this summer freeing me up to prep for the next build after I finish my dissertation. Anyway, I have another deployment to the middle east looming ahead at the end of 2011. I am hoping to build the wing ribs while overseas. I have not purchased plans yet so here are my questions...
1) Is it best to buy the wing wooden material kits from Steen which appear to be cut to length and just need to be assembled, or the bulk materials from aircraft Spruce which will require me to rough cut all of the pieces? I am in no hurry to finish, so the extra work to trim the stock doesn't deter me, just trying to weigh options and have a plan.
2) How big are the wing ribs when completed (to ship home when built), and if I trim the stock pieces for shipment what are the dimensions of the largest pieces (To ship to Iraq)? Need to figure out if it is even possible to ship the material over to me, and ship the completed ribs back home, or if it is just best to wait until I get home.
Thanks.
