I've done a lot of searching and couldn't find anything definitive. What is good
A & P acceptable practice?

Example 1: A blind "Q" rivet that is within .010+ or - of the minimum or maximum grip range for a given rivet. Say a 1/8 rivet with a .250 grip max and a .255 material stack or a .248 stack. Would I need to go to the next grip range or am I so close it won't matter? Some of these grip ranges don't overlap.

Example 2: Solid 3/32 AD rivet w/.050 material grip.
.050 + ( 1.5 X .093)=.190 rivet length required.
Can I use a 3/16 (.187) rivet ? I'm thinking the answer to this one is yes here.

Thanks in advance,

John H. in NH
