Does anyone have a Rod spring tailwheel setup for a S1-S they could sell ? I recently bought a 1966 S1-S N28K, that is flyable ( I flew it home with only one landing required, thankfully).
After closer inspection of the plane it became obvious that it had recently been ground looped. There is a brand new Aviat leaf spring Maule tailwheel jerri rigged onto it. I would like to take that off and replace with rod type spring which it had previously. I have tried to order one from API with no success. I talked to Karen there and ordered one. She was very nice but since then calls and emails are not returned and still no tailwheel.
Also, and this is no small thing either, the Aluminum spring landing gear is tweaked and needs straightened or replaced. So i have to address that as well. Checking with Grove to see if they will/can straighten that serial #.
Overall I think its a good little plane that just needs some attention. I hope.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
