Long story short: Alternator has been popping its circuit breaker intermittently for a while. A new regulator has not cured it. Alternator has been sent away for checking, and after some repair bench tested ok. The problem persists - popping the breaker seems to happen when G is loading the airframe, S & L it is mostly ok. The needle wanders about a bit, but not crazily.
The a/c has not had SB20 - which seems to be mostly aimed at smoothing the rate of charge, not the circuit breaker popping.

We have a few things to check - the circuit breaker itself included. The alternotor is an old prestolite (ALY8420LS ) no longer available I think - Does anybody know what we might need to replace it. The a/c is not experimental. Many thanks.
