S2B Canopy advice needed

Well I did it! Forgot to latch the canopy and it departed the airplane once I hit full power (never broke ground). Good part is it did not hit the plane and the canopy frame is undamaged. Here are my options that I am aware of at the moment,


Note: my plane is certified


1. Purchase new canopy from Aviat @ $4500. This may be the fastest way to get back in service. What are the odds of one of these fitting without alot of headache?


2. Purchase new glass from Aviat @ $1500 and install myself, Ive never done one but have installed a few Citabria windscreens and one Commanche 180 glass and lots of side glass.


3.A faster way to get back in service is purchase the open cockpit option, get it field approved and work on the canopy glass installation in my spare time. Ive never been in a Pitts with open cockpit, is it too much wind noise forcomfort? Ive talked to one gentleman who felt it was andrarely uses his. I do fly with a helmet so that should help! Comments welcome...


4. Is there anywhere I could send my canopy framefor the installation? Aviat does not offer the service any more.


5.If anyone knows the locationof a used two place or Racer canopy I would be interested.
