HI folks
I am helping a buddy with the annual on his S2B. We notice that the left exhaust stack is very close to the firewall. So close that vibration has worn a hole in the very lower part of the firewall. This must have happened before; a patch was made and riveted over a previous hole.

To try and determine what is happening we pulled that lower left stack and now also see that the heat shields on the lower motor mount frames have also been wearing away. In both the shield and the firewall areas the stack looks fine, but we sure don't want to just do the repairs without fixing the problem.

I have looked all around the motor mount and the Lord mounts to see if the engine appears to be sagging, and it does not. The plane is only flown in very basic acro, and the engine only has 300 hours on it and was installed with new rubber Lord mounts. And they have no indication of sagging.

Is this close tolerance a common S2B thing? Or do you folks have any suggestions or ideas. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks so much
mark
