Good Hello, I recently visited our local air museum and am seeking information on a type of tooling work done on a couple of Steerman restorations. The "tooling" for lack of knowing the proper terminology, could be described as a repetitive "circular milling" or a pattern of "circular scoring" applied to the exterior aluminum surfaces of the landing gear.

My interest is to understand more about this tooling and its application to aluminum. I am also wondering if this was a personal choice of the person who restored the Steerman, or is this treatment for reasons other then aesthetics or craftsmanship.

I would like to thank the Forum in in advance for your time and knowledge

Appreciatively, Quin
