Regret to inform of a Skybolt crash today at the Nanaimo Airshow.

C-FIPS six minutes into 8 minute airshow routine. In the video looks like some kind of a point roll (8 point?) with the nose dropping out on the last 1/2 roll to upright. Plane has a 150hp motor, and has been a bit of a fixture at local airshows for the past 15 years.

Serious injury to pilot.

Pilot identified as (Dr) Bill Phipps, from Campbell River. Some comments about "losing power", but the airshow smoke looks consistent to point of impact.
