Skybolt drag wire washers

I have a question for members who have maintained a flying Skybolt. The newsletter suggest using .125 4130 to make washers for the drag wire blocks as opposed to using AN 970 washers. This will add a fair amount of weight. Does anyone have experience with the AN 970 washers cupping in this application? If you have is it more common on the thicker 7/32 wire?
