    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I recently purchased a Skybolt with a partner.
It has a 0-540 and constant speed prop. When we worked the CG calculations it's nose heavy.
Empty weight is 1340 and empty CG is 11" forward of the low wing leading edge.
With a 200 lb pilot (me) and full fuel the CG is 5" ahead of the leading edge. I believe the limits are 3" forward to 2.5" aft.
My partner has flown it a couple of times and says it flys fine. Apparently it's been flying like this for years.

So my questions are:
How concerned should I be about this?
What are the adverse effect of a forward CG?
Where and how is a good way to add weight to compensate?
