I am getting to major decision time on my Skybolt. The engine will be a 540. Beyond that, I know almost nothing. Going through Lycoming’s site, an AEIO-540 would seem ideal, but I know others can be used. The aircraft will be used for “gentleman’s acro” only. The number one goal is reliability. I have just about recovered from the sticker shock of a new one, or even a zero time one, as a result It will likely wind up being an overhauled engine. I am in Canada, so a Canadian source would be ideal, but not mandatory. Any guidance would be appreciated.
