I was looking over a Stardust Too restoration project opportunity today. The landing gear was different than anything I have seen before. See the pictures below. A large diameter bent tube, tapered at each end is attached to the forward fuselage points but runs across the fuselage interior. Shock absorption is by bending the tube inside the fuselage as the gear splays out. The aft diagonal supports only attach about one third down the leg. Does anyone know anything about this design? It actually looks pretty good since there appears to be no fuselage tubing modifications and it eliminates bungees. The axels are 8 inches aft of the firewall.

The other modification was a lower rigid V strut under each horizontal tail with a single flying wire support between the horizontal and vertical tails. I think the standard design is flying wires top and bottom. Does anyone know of this modification?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
