I would like to know what is typically used for the datum. An airplane I'm looking at shows the MLG at 4" and the tailwheel at 180.25".

The aft limit CG is shown as 27" which is apparently easy to bust with two 170 lb people, 30 lbs of baggage and 90 lbs of fuel (27.3"). If I figure our actual weights and no baggage with 90 lbs of fuel we're at 27.6".

This sounds like an airplane that has a short mount and if the datum is the firewall the MLG is at 4" aft so the tail is a bit heavy (112 lbs at empty weight). The empty weight is shown at 1201# with an O-360 (Lyc?).

Gross weight is shown as 1985#. I have no idea if that's real or penciled in.
