I find my ASI reads too high and discover my static source simply vents into interior of tail and cockpit. I did a short search and thought the installation of a correct static probe would be simple but it seems more complicated the more I think about it so:

First, where have you placed the static source?
I'm thinking on side of fuselage behind cockpit? Maybe both sides? A good place to install a single probe?

2nd, how do you attach/install it/them to the fabric?
I'm thinking about attaching a piece of Al sheet reinforcement, gluing and/or screwing it to the fabric on the inside. Then attach the static probe to it, the type held by 9/16" nut on inside.

The probe then sticks up proud to the surface, is that correct? Can they be painted?

Thanks,

Jack
