So the airport I fly at has a Stearman available for solo rental; $195/hr and they require $100k in hull insurance.

I flew it for a high performance signoff last summer and of course it was amazing. My friend who signed me off said I’d just need one more flight before I was good to go which makes it tempting to make the jump and pay the $1000 for the required insurance and get checked out.

But…ouch. $1000 + $195/hr is a lot plus I’ve only got 40hrs t/w time, all in pretty easy taildraggers (Cub, Champ, T-craft and Citabria)

It’s a stupid question, but what do y’all think? Take the opportunity to enjoy the Stearman time, or stick with the Cubs? Am I safe with that little t/w time? (we’re limited to landings there at the 150' wide grass home field). I know not everyone gets the chance to rent one. Flights would probably be mostly rides.
