I figure this has been asked before, I just couldn’t find it...so, here goes:
How long is it reasonable to expect a plane covered with Sitts Polyfiber to go before needing recovering? The airplane has always been hangared, only sits outside when at a fly-in, I’m told. But the plane was built in 1993, so we’re looking at fabric that’s been on a plane 25 years.
I realize this is a nebulous question, as the quality of the covering job will have an impact. But assuming the covering was done “by the book”, is 25 years still reaching the point where the fabric is at the end of its service life? Or would the underlying condition of the steel tubing be a bigger issue?
