I didn't like the elongating holes where the tail wheel chain clips attach to the rudder. See photo. My current plan is to weld the hole closed, add a doubler the same shape to the bottom and drill the new hole large enough to accept the threaded carabiner style link.

Any thoughts?
Does anyone use a sacrificial insert or another method to make the attachment?
