Test Run for the IO-540 Today

Here are two pictures from the test run of the IO-540 we did today. It was a bit of a challenge to get the test prop mated to the crank with the very long saber engineering bushings installed that are used on the Catto prop. I ordered two spacer plates (1/4" thick + 3/8" thick). We had to make our own prop studs out of P7 threaded rod 1/2-20 and some class 8 nuts. I wouldn't fly behind this, but it all worked well on the test stand.

It ran very well for the 1 hour test sequence. Nothing of note in the filter.

I wonder why they make the test props out of rubber?? <g>
