I was reading a thread on the Tailwind exploder about DAR's. I didn't realize it but there are two different types of DARs and there is a HUGE difference in the cost of each. And... you can use either one.

Here is an email that kind of explains it:

"When I had my plane inspected a couple of years ago I learned there are two different kinds of DARs. There are "Maintenance" DARs and "Manufacturing" DARs. In my area the Maintenance DARs report to FSDO while the Manufacturing DARs report to a MIDO. There was a huge difference in the fees they wanted. The Maintenance DARs were available for around $300 with nearly no lead time while the Manufacturing DARs wanted thousands of dollars and 6 months to schedule an inspection."

Is this right ?

thanks
