My poor old Tu-holer hadn't flown for several weeks while getting the new Acroduster 2 inspected and flown. I now have several flights I the AD2 and am loving it. Put the canopy on the Tu-holer and covered front pit yesterday and had a chance to fly it today.
As I pushed the throttle forward I knew to expect a difference but was not really ready for what happened. I climbed straight ahead to 300' and started a left turn and NOTHING HAPPENED. I pushed the stick harder to the left and still not much happened. I leaned more into it and the airplane started responding and in several more seconds it became "normal" again.
My friends, I'm 100% serious, the ailerons are so heavy on the old airplane I really thought something was jammed. Honest, really did! (And I had done a control check and observed full aileron movement after run-up.)
I have always complained about the heavy barn doors attached to the trailing edge of the Spezio's wings but the reality of how heavy they are compared to a really nice airplane is unreal.
It's amazing how quickly we sometimes adapt. You may recall the initial trouble I had with the Pitts S2C last month. After that the Acroduster 2 seemed normal. Now again it took a few seconds for the old airplane to become normal again. But this time it was so profound that it was scary for a second or two.....
