Gang, sat around yesterday morning pondering S-1S plans and how to notch and weld the various intersections on the fuselage, stabilizers, and control surfaces. Both the Steen and Aviat plans imply one should miter the longeron tubes with the vertical tubes at the firewall. A different approach would be to leave the longeron open and cap it later to close. In looking at the horizontal and vertical stabilizers, as well as the control surfaces, the same question applies (albeit with different diameter tubing in some cases). How have some of you done this? It appears structural integrity would be maintained no matter how this is done. Are there second-order affects that might prove advantageous for one method over another? - Gregg
