Eagle gear is factory, circa 1980. I replaced it with a Grove gundrilled gear on my Eagle
S1 gear came with a project, but I don't need it. It's a Grove gear, gundrilled, with additional ports drilled near the axles to make the short line to the caliper easier to make.
I don't know the history of the S1 gear, but it has a mark on the inside of one leg. I'm not sure what caused it, but it doesn't appear to be any kind of damage or a dent. It actually looks like someone got aggressive with a sander? It's not deep, and doesn't look to have any affect on the alignment or geometry.
S1 gear, with radius blocks: $1500 USD + shipping
Eagle gear: $1250 USD + shipping
If preferred, I can polish either of them, for an additional fee. Or just give them a scrub with a scotchbrite.
I'm in Canada, so depending where YOU are, shipping probably runs about $150? That's roughly what the shipping on my new gear cost from Grove
