    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Rebuilding a Smith Mini Plane but I have a general question. Looking to replace the edge protection, rubber stripping or weather stripping used for protecting the fabric surface from the edge of a sheet metal surface. Another words looking for suggestions for something to put over the edge of a sheet metal panel to protect the surface it would come up against. Specifically I am working on a head rest on the turtle deck and will have cowling coming next. What stripping was there, extended about 1/4 to 3/8" up each side over 1/16" thick aluminum. This has been petrified by UV and is coming off in pieces. Looking on line has been an exercise in frustration, way to many options.
