I purchased a sa-900 that has " i believe " a J-3 cowl on it with large eyebrows above the cylinder heads. The plane came from arizona where it gets really hot so I'm sure this helped with keeping the engine cool. I'm located in arlington wa and its much cooler here. I have yet to get the oil temp above 120 ( well below normal oper. range which starts at about 145-150.) I'm running a 0-200-A and I've been told thats not good on the engine. I would like to change the front cowl to an enclosed cowl that covers the heads. My question is, What are other v-star owners using and what type of cowl would fit ? Any guidence or comments would be appreciated.
