Hi folks,
On the hunt for a 2 place canopy....to cut a long story short: inverted spin training (demonstration). Radio came straight out of housing and struck canopy above left shoulder. Once I secured it in my left hand I recovered from the spin one handed and took my time descending to land.
The radio is one of the older box comms that I have noticed in a number of single place Pitts Specials over the years. A very cumbersome unit. Just lucky it only grazed the side of my face and not front on..
Just a bit of a note for anyone else out there with this factory installation to check security periodically. I had been doing solid aerobatic flying for the previous couple of days, however this was the first inverted spin during that time.
Pretty bummed out about it but the owner was very supportive, so as indicated, in the market for a new one. We are considering approaching Aviat direct and getting one new but if anyone happens to have any possible leads on one please let me know.
