I'm drawing up this part in CAD for waterjet cutting -- the control stick mount, to be welded to the torque tube.
In making the flat pattern, it occurs to me to wonder: would I be happier if I left the indicated torque tube cutout out of the pattern? That is, just leave all the metal there, to facilitate bending, then cut that material out after the bending is all done.
I can't really see that bend coming out nicely if I have the waterjet cut out the torque tube clearance, no matter how securely the piece is clamped in a brake (and chances are good that I'll have a press brake rather than something that has a clamp).
Am I on the right track here?
