Waterproofing?

Hi all

I'm busy making up the top panels around the cabanes.. and was wondering about waterproofing?

The gaps in the sheet metal around the cabanes can be 1/8" - 1/4" wide in many cases I've seen.. impossible to close totally, but I was worried about water running down inside the cabanes.. and well, the back ones sit right over all the instruments.

What's the usual practice here?
