What are the odds a used altimeter from ebay will actually work?

The altimeter that came with my plane is too deep for the panel now that things have been moved around. A new Falcon altimeter is about $600, a freshly overhauled United altimeter from an instrument shop is about $800, and I can score a decent looking used one off ebay for about $275.

Curious to hear what y'all think about that. :)

Thanks!
