I have been rigging my Firebolt wings,so as to get a length measurement of the flying/landing wires. The wings are positioned properly and supported. I made an extendable "trammel" rod out of 1/2" tubing with a length of 7/16 tubing sliding inside. A short 3/8 pin was welded to each end, with a shaft collar in the middle to lock it into position. I placed one end of this trammel rod into the wire attach bracket on the lower fuselage and the other end into the upper wing eye bolt and then locked the collar. This should be my pin to pin wire measurement...Right?? Are any adjustments made to this length for tensioning?? And also when the plane is finally assembled after painting do I repeat this rigging process with plumb bobs, levels and incidence boards?? I still have the fuselage/wings setup and don't want to tear them down until I am sure I have every thing done...I-struts and slave struts are in. Any advice / reassurance would be much appreciated.
