    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I have never been a fan of the auto parts colored plastic smash connectors on aircraft. I've had the wire fall out of some of these on motorcycles and hot rods enough that I don't want them on my airplane. For a long time I soldered everything and never had a problem but it is time consuming. The crimping tool I use now allows one to make a reliable crimp and when covered with heat shrink the wire is supported and the end is clean and neat. Problem is I forgot the name of the tool (I think they are KLIEN) but I have seen it at Sears. It is not actually a crimp. but the tool pierces the closed side of the uninsulated terminal and makes the best non soldered connection I have yet to use.
