I am close to finishing a rebuild on a 1972 Pitts S1. At the moment I am re-installing the fuel system and have come upon the problem of where to locate the fuel drain. On the 1972 plans it is shown just behind the firewall about 5 inches to the right of the fuselage centreline on a 4130 plate which is attached to the 1-210-101 fairing. The problem is that this aircraft is now fitted with the spring gear and so the drain has to be further aft where there is no convenient structure to attach the valve.
I am sure this problem has been solved many times and I would like to know the best and simplest way to get around it. Thanks in anticipation.
