The fuel gauge in my Pitts S2C is inop. It reads FULL no matter the fuel level.
I have gone to the Aviat website and find no information on the S2C . The drawings and parts list they publish are of the S2B which has a clear tube on the panel to indicate fuel level--no gauge!!
I am having a hard time finding information about the fuel indicator system on the S2C. After a couple discussions the factory could not provide me information despite their promise to research and get back to me with the information.
The factory guy, said they have not done work on an S2C in years. He said they never see and S2C in the factory anymore.
In anticipation of the inevitable fabric recover job I asked and he said I should expect to spend $120,000 to recover and paint and that I should expect a delay of 1.5 years before he could even start the project. WOW
BACK TO MY FUEL SENDER PROBLEM:
My bet is that the fuel level sender is INOP and that the gauge is fully functional. However I would like to know how to test that theory before I go spend a bunch of time and money replacing parts because they MIGHT be BAD. I would also like to know part number or the make and model of the gauge in my Pitts, so I can know what parts I need to go search for. Also, I would like to know where the sender is located so I can access and test it. My best guess is top of the tank, which means I will have to pull several panels to gain access just to find model number and maybe test, (if only I has specs so I could test) then have to reassemble so I can fly it while I research a vendor and order the parts, then take ti all apart again when I get the part...blah, blah... sorry for my bitching about this.
I love my Pitts, but sometimes I get a bit frustrated.
