Clamshell canopy hold-down?

I have the framework and latches pretty much complete on my canopy installation on my SD TOO. I was thinking of incorporating a lip that would attach to the fuselage at the very front edge of the canopy. My thought was that the canopy skirt could nest under this lip in the closed position and it would help secure the forward edge of the canopy.

Is this even necessary? In flight, does the canopy tend to pull up? Of the few Skybolts with this canopy that I have seen pics of I haven't noticed anything like this so maybe not needed.
