Hi guys. It was a great day yesterday and long awaited. Had the FAA inspector out to look at the plane and passed the inspection with no problems. Time to put all the inspection plates, gap trim, cowling etc back it and make the first test flight. I have already got two hrs. on it riding it around on the ground and doing high speed taxi tests. I read the article in Sport Aviation about fast taxi not being advisable but have done it on every plane I have built or rebuilt. It tracked straight and true and was more docile than I expected.
Thanks to all for the support and advice during the build process. As usual I need to post pictures which I will do in the next few days. I got the weight and balance done and it was not as daunting as I had thought. I'll post the results with the pictures. The empty weight was 1113 and Cg right in the middle with full fuel and me in the cockpit. I used a set of borrowed scales that have been used by a number of builders of RV's here in town. Plan to weigh it again before flight with a certified set of scales as "zeroing" the scales was not as accurate as I would have liked. They tended to "bounce around the zero mark if you pushed down and allowed it to go back to zero.
