I know the construction method has been cover to great extent - notching vs shrinking/stretching- so we won't go there. I am wondering if the grade of aluminum is a factor. I will be notching it so work hardening is not a factor but my real question is this: Will 6061 be sufficient or would I be better off with 2024 or other? Also, I have just figured on using 3/4 x 1/16. Is there any argument for using 1/2 or 1 inch angle instead? And lastly, what rivets do you recommend? size? pulled or squeezed and material? If I use a stainless or aluminum rivet then I have to worry about cross metal contamination, or do I ?

Lastly, does anyone have a notcher I could borrow, lease or purchase cheaply? spending $100 on a tool I will use for ten minutes does not appeal to me right now.
