I'm looking at buying a Pitts and had a prebuy done a few days ago. The price is good, but I'm concerned about the wings on it (which is the main reason I'm looking to buy the project).
The aircraft is a C model that now has S1SS wings installed that the seller made a few years ago.
There is a ton of washers used under the I struts.
The seller says that up to 1.5" of washers can be used to rig the wings but it sounds excessive to what I've seen.
I'm not sure if the wings are twisted due to a structural issue, or maybe the I struts aren't built correctly or it's a rigging issue.
The seller said he installed the washers to get the aircraft to fly straight which might have been as simple as a out of alignment aileron or spade needing adjustment?
The seller has been straightforward and isn't misrepresenting the aircraft, but I just need a little advice prior to sending the money.
The attached pictures are of the left and right wings, (they both have a huge stack of washers installed).
