All,

As I inch closer to airplane ownership, I figured I'd ask the group about aviation insurance on these things. I am a low time pilot ~200 hours probably 20 TW and 3 Pitts. Multi-engine rated, although I doubt it matters.

I'm wondering a few things:

1. What are the requirements and costs for an S1? I'm thinking I probably wouldn't need hull coverage and they may not even give it to me at first anyway. Not planning on financing any purchases, so I don't believe hull is required anyway.

2. When the day comes and I'm ready to step up to a 2 seat (I say step up for insurance purposes as it is more expensive to insure), what are the additional requirements? Curious about the Model 12, Skybolt, and S2 series.

I know y'all can't give me exact figures. I'm going to call some insurance companies next week. Just figured y'all could give me the general lay of the land. Thanks!

John
