Hi folks,
During my visit with Chris (smizo), we got to talking about metal protectant to keep rust off of fuselages and pieces parts under construction, prior to finishing.
The street rod shop I frequent stumbled on this stuff:
http://www.radrides.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=Gear&Category_Code=Protectants
I hope this isn't considered an advertizement, but I thought it was important.I hope this is a good place to post this thread.
They do tons of metal work on custom cars over an extended period of time, and the bare metal just doesn't rust!
They just wipe the car down with lacquer thinner, brake kleen or mek. Then some paint prep solvent and they're ready for bodywork. No silicones, or any non-body shop friendly components.
It's not cheap, but it'd be worth a try.
I hope this helps.
Dan
