In a previous post the S1-11B tail flutter was addressed along with adjusting the aileron bays for improved roll and the use of spades.

What I want to know is, has anyone had the opportunity to fly a model 11 with both the plans spec rudder and elevators, and slightly larger or Steve Wolf rudder and elevators? My aircraft is not yet complete and we have only increased the size of the rudder (for 300hp engine). The ailerons, and elevators are plans spec.

I am concerned that the larger control surfaces will put extra stress on the airframe, and I prefer to keep my bird as simple and light as possible.

Are the larger control surfaces really necessary for advanced level competition?
